I fucking love these demons.
There's a very Shin Megami Tensei feel to em.

So does he have any reason to antagonize this guys? Isn't his mistress going to be summoned too if they succeed?

@Archomp +1 for mentioning it.

My first thought was actually a Skyrim reference. "join this group and turn into a cool thing" lol.

@Acolytus: Depends, it's also that same war that killed his mistress.

So if he can prevent the war, but still get his mistress summoned, that's probably his ideal, after all he know the monsters side lose.

I'm expecting them to tell him to kill the girl as a sign of good faith/loyalty. Which he will, of course, refuse.
Not taking no for an answer. They'll kill him and her, triggering a reset. This will alter his plans, realizing the guild will not meet his expectations. He'll likely then , "run away with her" when she gives the option.
Honestly, I felt the berserker was too spot-lit to not become one of the 'sidekicks'. So with a reset, it'll give us a chance to see more of her senario.

He told both of them to join and that they'd gain power, but it feels like Blondie's time's up. . . Quite shitty.

Of course, what do we expect? They hate humans so they are monsters themselves. bye bye, see ya next week or so

I'm kinda disappointed that after all this cool build-up it turned into simple "lol we turn into monsters, thanks Simba"
At the very least I hope it won't go into the predictable "sacrifice the girl to prove loyalty"
But even if it did, if the Slime-san would come to rescue the blondie it would be cool.

Wow, they really did go the prolific mythological beast route. I am kind of disappointed, but every cameo, that reminds me of Princess Mononoke, is a good cameo.
