Why do the clearly homicidal and maniacal villains actually try something as stupid as using a hostage as a shield? His whole plan hinges upon people not just reasoning that wannabe joker #545566643466663 is obviously going to kill the hostage (or tons of other people) either way, so they might as well take him down while he's there. I'd love to see the look on one of their faces when it gets pointed out to them one day.
