Well, the best thing I can say about chapter 166 is that I'm very disappointed.

It looks like Coco is just going to keep Igarashi in the dark, as well as continuing to characterize him as a clueless buffoon. If he doesn't confront Chiyo about what he overheard the next time they are alone, he'll become a spineless buffoon.

Coco is also forging ahead with the plan to make Ookuma a likeable and sympathetic character, as well as make him even more likeable than Igarashi. It's not working with me, though it does seem to be working with Chiyo. I fear that, if Coco pushes this too far, not only will Chiyo and Ookuma end up together, but Chiyo will also become one of my most detested heroines.

It also really grated on my nerves that Chiyo could spend enough time with Ookuma in the middle of the night to have a hot beverage, but she could only spend two seconds with her "boyfriend," let alone lying to him. If you can't sleep, why not spend some time with your "boyfriend?"

That fake, Miss Goody Twoshoes "good morning" smile also pissed me off.

@kronix IIRC there was a site that had the raws without the pay block posted on the old batoto forums. Could be wrong though. Maybe Fred can help out with that.

@HammerU89 That was actually the same website, comico.jp. It became a pay-to-read website in September of 2016 and there is nowhere that I know of to read it in Japanese for free.

@sylvacoer It's probably a combination of surprise, shock, denial, trying to figure out what to do, depression and bewilderment. He discovers his girlfriend in an private, intimate conversation with someone she has led him to believe that she did not know, in the middle of the night, no less, and hears the guy, who also led him to believe that he did not know his girlfriend, tell her that he was in love with her. And his girlfriend immediately puts on an act as if nothing untoward has happened and continues to deceive him. His faith and trust in both his girlfriend and his co-worker senpai has been shattered and the current situation, in the midst of a group holiday, doesn't make it any easier to contend with. Unfortunately, Igarashi wasn't able to recognize the warning signs that something was amiss, like when he caught them alone at the festival, or when Ookuma asked him if Chiyo had said anything about him, or that Chiyo had seemed to be curiously and inordinately obsessed about what Ookuma did with Nagatsuki on their dates to the extent that she insisted on trailing them.

And, yeah, Chiyo can't be bothered to notice if her boyfriend is worried about something. She's too busy putting up a false front to maintain the façade of not knowing Ookuma from a hill of beans and never having had anything to do with him in the past.
