If you think about it, summoners are the most valuable spellcasters for many reasons.

Not only do they mitigate for physical labor but they will also reduce the casualties in case of an outbreak of war.
Having summoners will make up for a huge number of army units, defensive units and support units without having to worry of human resources.

While I do believe Necromancy and Summoning are very much alike.. and are just two sides of a coin, their value as a unit are much better than those spellcasters whose body is their only investment.

While a death of a single summoner may reduce the number, they can easily defend each other's asses.. and even have their summons protect their asses as well.
