I was thinking the same thing. He should NOT know the MC yet ... they met after the apocalypse but he knows him AND already owes him ... wait ... what? Maybe it wasn't explained well in the previous chapter and they knew each other before the apocalypse in some fashion. But according to what we 'know' based on the previous chapters this looks like ... a plot hole.

Explanation for people who do not understand/remember why this guy knows the MC's name now, not in the future: The MC beat up the red jacket gang, who had killed his leader. He heard that MC had avenged his leader for him, unintentionally, and wanted to pay him back for doing that for him. The whole reason he is there to begin with, is because MC beat em up at the "customs gate". He heard MC's name from other ppl who witnessed the beatdown.
