@Grenzoocoon Bullshit; you haven't given this series any chance at all. You walked in predisposed to hate this series from the start and are deliberately ignoring entire chapters' worth of world-building and character development.

Feel free to criticize it if you want, but this series isn't "generic" just because you somehow managed to miss entire story arcs. See: Pram dealing with his father issues, Adjest getting shown up twice in a row because of monofocusing, Romantica being forced to confront the realities of her "nobility", and Desir putting years of bloody experience to work.

Simple? Yes. Cliche? Sometimes. "Generic"? Only if you're being dishonest.
