Okay, if you hear an old gramps say someone is bad, 99 times out of 100 the guy is THE WORST.
Old people have a knack for knowing good from evil due to their experience. Hell, sometimes their intuition beats clairvoyance.

whole town is retarded. He raises kids and they NEVER see them again? What kind of idiots don't suspect him of foul play.

@firosahoge

They never see the children mistreated in the town. And they never hear of any mistreatment afterwards. Nor any good treatment afterwards, but they probably think they wouldn't tell them of just that.

One thing that i hate most is miscommunication, people can't read your goddamn mind mind you. so be fucking clear with everyone, or it will leave a bad taste in your mouth.

@screamdoom
Not to be a smartass, but it's specifically over-communication that is the culprit here, rather than miscommunication. It's when the author over-reveals information to the audience, that other characters are not privy to.
Imagine that if we wouldn't be inside the head of the MC; from the perspective of the child she has no idea how to handle this man that may or may not even want her around. That way, if we have no idea wtf the MC is thinking, we're on the same page as the child -- and can respect her decisions...That form of miscommunication and misunderstanding narrative is a bit more legit than what we have right here.

It only truly starts to become annoying, when the audience knows what everyone are thinking, but the characters do not. They seem like a bunch of retards to us, and it becomes nearly impossible to sympathize with their decisions.

But anyway, yeah, I hear you. This misunderstanding trope is so tart and old that it feels like a sci-fi writer is genuinely trying to pull off a flying saucer and alien green men.

@Solipsist The thing that makes the MC stupid is that he wont sit down and talk with her. Yes his behavior is something that happens for real, but that doesn't make it any less stupid behavior. We're able to easily see and criticize it because of the huge amount of information (however it's worth mentioning that we still only have 1 perspective we don't know what the girl is thinking)

Also I'm pretty sure the little girl was kidnapped, I don't think she left on her own.

Aww, it would have been a better development if "Creepy Old Dude" was actually a nice guy. That way the loli's choice of going with the MC could have been put as the better of two good options rather than her only option.

aaww She's cute. Wonder why he doesn't think about being her adoptive father and all that since he's got no plans for his own future anyway.
Many thanks

@AMetroid - I'm of the same mind. Tho I do like the idea of collecting kids to sell to a demon king - that's so deliciously evil and twisted, he'll be a Big Damned Hero for saving her.
