I was just looking at that and thinking the same thing... a nice warm feeling... open courtyard... with the trees providing cover... but spots of sunlight getting through the opening in the leaves.

Then looking back at all the kissing scenes I realized Negi has done each in a double-wide landscape that gives each one a strong effect.

But ugh, the double-wide landscape pic of Yotsuba in tears at the end... really brought out the feels.
