Oh no! What an unpredictable turn of events! Who could have ever seen this coming?

In all honesty, if you're in the market of sending kids as a form of meat, you'd think you'd be able to keep up the lie or at the very least, make a better one. There's always going to be someone inquisitive enough to ask questions and you can't just kill any and everyone that asks.
But, I guess this is a semi-medieval environment...

Never trust a guy who looks like a cross between Angela Merkel and Donald Trump

By this point, being an old fat guy who is either rich or nobility in an isekai setting should be grounds for immediate execution because it's nearly 100% guaranteed that you are a derranged psycho.

wow the fat guy who takes in kids wasn't actually doing it for the kids' sake but for his own profit, I haven't seen that...since the last isekai I read...which wasn't even that long ago...please something slightly less cliche PLEASE
*I know it's hard to write a good story, but it shouldn't be that hard to just not do the same thing that 50+ other notable series have ALSO done in the past 2-3 years right?

@AnonDePlume I do wonder, what would you consider original. Would you prefer that there is a child brothel in the basement of the building instead of sending them out as soldiers, slaves or sex slaves. There is a reason orphanages are run by the government and churches and not private individuals. Government and religion(is supposed to) be for the people while merchants and those who are in the position to make capital only think of profits while making the customer just happy enough so they will keep buying their shit. Same shit occurs with the most dangerous things like planes. Sensors are very expensive and it would be important to have redundant systems regardless if failures are under 2%. The business persons bitch the faa or w.e the American aviation standards and protections branch is called into thinking that 1 sensor with a failure rate of over 1%, shit even 0.5%.

- You are already "the stereotypical evil fat priest/noble"
- NANI?!

Waiting to find out this guy is not only evil, but is actually a demon disguised as a fat rich merchant.
