Im just going to try and stop reading the comments on this. People just casually talking about the web novel and spoiling shit is starting to become an issue. Have fun reading people who can live with the spoilers.

@Merilirem you all over exaggerate on spoilers. Its not that big of a deal and if it is to any individual they need to take a step back and look at life a bit more keenly since life itself is filled with spoilers.
 
I really enjoyed how this was done, it wasn't some simple "this is incredibly complex but I can do it in three seconds because I'm the MC" garbage, but they didn't go into way too much detail either.
 
Alright, so he calls Legend Rank runemasters "impressive," but there are later in the novel people who could literally pee on a legend rank to kill them, and Nie Li has no trouble at all deciphering their runes effortlessly. I get that it's to give the reader a sense of scale of how powerful this is based on how strong we think Legend rank is right now, but it's just kind of funny.
 
Nie Li's tendency to talk to himself shows how much loneliness he endured in his previous life.

From What I understand, Legend Ranked Runemasters/Inscriptionists are not ranked by their cultivation but rather their understanding in creation and deciphering of Runes, though Nie Li himself hasn't proclaimed it, with his ability to break these kinds of Runes in a matter of hours is already impressive and would rank him just below the Legend Rank of Runecrafting/Inscriptions.

Nie Lie meeting people who could also break Runes is a given, but it is shown that he has a much deeper understanding to Runes than those people that he will meet in the future, despite the Cultivation advantage they have over our MC.

The first thing that comes to mind in terms of him and high-level inscription patterns is when he walked through the pattern of the Thousand Illusionary Array at the Void Illusionary Divine Palace, something not even Martial Ancestor Realms could do. Now, that's not decoding per se, but then you look a few chapters later when him, Wu Yazi, and Xiao Yu are in the treasure room, and he destroys the Celestial Bound Array, something that could incinerate Dao of Dragon experts. Now, if we consider the fact that this Legend rank inscription probably wouldn't be able to affect someone above the Heavenly Fate realm, then by that logic it would be even more difficult to make either of the two aforementioned arrays because of how much stronger MAR/DODs are, and it's described how he navigated them with ease. Finally, it's described how he knows how to utilize the Myriad Spiritual Sword Array, something that can not only kill Deity ranks, it was able to kill the Sage Emperor's generals, and we can infer that he was self-taught as he didn't need Tian Yuan's help to comprehend it.
