So the blade ogre of the green mountain doesn't appear to be one of his revenge targets from his previous life, so I wonder if he is associated with any of the sects? Since he doesn't appear to recognize the spear sect technique like the sword of men did. I guess he's just an independent fighter.

its not that he cant take his bracers off, its just that he doesnt want to take them off.

presumedly the logic is along the lines of "if i can beat him with them on despite him being legitimately strong, i'll get even stronger", and so he wont take them off until he absolutely needs to in order to win.

It's not as much training his skills if he removes them. And by removing them, he'll need to adapt for a brief time to his increased speed, and in a battle of experts, seconds could be deadly.

@Sarsak Or MC can also surprise the opponent with the improved speed after taking the braces off. Anyway, putting the braces for now is more advantageous.

When taking them off he could throw them at Ogre to try and throw him off and get a solid hit in with the increased speed
