Japanese does not gender words in the same way as does English, creating challenges for translation. Partway into the series, it became clear from the illustrations that the creator of Suoh and of the body of Mute were a female, so that what had been rendered as “Master” should have been rendered as “Mistress”. There has been some speculation that Mute's mind is actually that of the creator; in that case, it would stand to reason that Mute would be a bitch. But the translator might just be giving a best guess in assigning a gender to Mute's pronoun.
 
@Oeconomist yes, Japanese can be very tricky when it comes to that. I know the chapters are riddled with inconsistencies right now, but I do plan on going back to try and find and fix them sometime soon. My apologies for creating confusion about things.

You did not create confusion. You could and can only work with the information at hand at the time. The comments are a good place for readers to learn, if they did not already know, to be prepared to make adjustments of certain sorts, and for someone to point to a specific adjustment the need for which others have missed.
