Also half of these things nonsensical things happen because the world works differently at different corners of the world. The Chinese being the perfect example of roundabout people that can't speak directly.

Also take the money would simply make everyone unhappy because
1)Doesn't solve trust issues.
2)Guy gets the money that he doesn't want.
3)Creates more problem in the future.

Besides, the MC is a 'hero'. However bland, heroes need 'good guy values' and taking the money is not 'good guy value'.
