kinda exaggerating. agree that divorce quite considered as a shame but not that much, more like it just leave big scar on your social status.
but it will be different story for caught red handed for cheating/having affair as woman. for example, if an OL caught red handed having affair someone at her workplace, that ol most likely will be pressed to resign and definitely gonna have a hard time to find a new work. (edit update: perfect example of this case currently happening in NHK japan right now, affair gate between male and female announcer. male announcer still working but they fired female one)
