So right off the bat we have a world devoid of common sense. Strap in, everyone.

It's chinese "the weak should obey the strong" type world. The strongest can do anything and the weak must scrape and grovel to get anything.

Merilirem 1 child policy? I understand that the comic is Chinese buddy I was talking about the world in the comic. Also no need to be an @$$ about it. The story does not take place in China it’s another world :/

it wouldnt be that crazy in the real world, before modern medicine your baby had a really good chance of dying anyway. when everyones popping out 10 kids and half of them die the way you think about children is very different. also just the fact that your entire life will change if your kid is selected, although these stories always makes everyone look attractive and healthy so you dont really get the feeling that peasants even need money, it just looks like greed.

Chinese people have a stravagant way of treating they newborns thats for sure.

I can't stop laughing due to the ridiculousness of this??? Ptfff

@endangerdbreed Same (about not putting my kid in danger) but well... Lin Qiang (sorry if I mispelled her name) said that she was the youngest of 3 kids, and she said her parents loved them both more than her... So (I think) the parents won't really care if she'd died? Or they wouldn't be morning her much, only the missed opportunity of not having the Emperor choose her and by that, losing the power they'd earn.
TL;DR the parents seem to care more about gaining power with the Emperor than about her daughter, so... :/

Oh, I see so it was because of a prophecy. This means the emperor didn't just lose his mind all of a sudden. God did.
