@xzayer @vimeseh perhaps you misunderstood, I'm not talking about her being a villain in the overall story(though I don't think she is there either, just has a bratty personality a lot of the time), I'm talking about her dropping Igarashi like a rock as soon as he admitted infidelity and then refusing to listen to his pleas and prostrations. She's not "being a bitch" in this scenario as Igarashi has given zero reason to trust him further, and indeed, forcing his way into her apartment and grabbing her sure as hell isn't the right way to go about these things. It is indeed misogynistic to expect a woman to just accept her significant other's adultery as just "boys being boys" and forgive and move on.

Hmm I don't blame igarashi for reacting that way because they were in a serious relationship and chiyo broke it off without explaining much other than that she couldn't be with him anymore..

For him who doesn't even clearly remember what happened that night, he probably wants to explain himself to her..

I used to really love this webtoon but now, it's become so painful to read. the characters lack of communication with each other and everyone around them is infuriating. The fact that igarashi just took Subaru's words at face value without asking her for an explanation, how chiyo refused to tell igarashi & nagatsuki about her past with ookuma, and how chiyo never critically thinks about anything and is almost always second guessing her bf.

Why does a character like Subaru even exist? I can't imagine a woman her age like her acting so sleezy like that. Assuming that her and igarashi don't regularly talk or hang out, she's lose as heck to so easily come and meet up with 3 drunk dudes. Also why are igarashi's friends so trash? What happened to looking after each other's back? Why would they even let him leave with another girl when they know he has a girlfriend? It's so frustrating cause I used to really love this webtoon but it feels like everyone in here lacks brain cells. And Igarashi used to be such a wonderful ML... Coco has really destroyed his character.

@Captaininvictus She definitely isn't the villain in this situation but she very much has been a cunt through a large portion of the rest of the story that goes beyond "a bratty personality".

I'm with @DeathBahamutXXX and @minar on this one; all this has done is destroyed the one nice guy in the whole series and brought him down to the shit tier level of the rest of the cast. It seems Coco is trying to make certain characters seem more redeemable by making them comparatively less of a fuckwit than Igurashi is becoming cause pl0t raisins. With the way this is being written and how concerted the effort seems to be to ruin Igurashi I have fears about how cheap this'll go and what accusations might be thrown if Subaru does get confronted by someone about this :/

The original "villain" of this story was introduced in chapter 14. Since then, Coco has made a concerted effort on several occasions to sweep his offense under the carpet and turn him into the most upstanding fellow in the story, someone who Chiyo would not only forgive, but would once again admire and possibly fall in love with all over again. To do this, Coco has had to sacrifice the only one real nice guy in the story, Igarashi, by making him seem , in comparison, to be an insensitive, uncaring, unworthy creep of a boyfriend. And Coco's plan is definitely working, not only with Chiyo, but with some people here, if not most of the people on comicojp.

@minar I agree with all that you stated except that Subaru wasn't going to meet three drunk dudes. She was under the impression that it was Igarashi who asked her to meet her when it was actually his scummy senpai who sent the text. But, yeah, everything else is pretty mind-boggling. And you hit on the one thing that has pissed me off about Chiyo for 150 chapters, that she was not, and still has not been honest with Igarashi and told him the truth about her "relationship" with Ookuma, but pretended not to know him when Igarashi introduced them back in chapter 54.

I’m agreeing with you on this. Igarashi is quintessentially the nicest character within the series. He doesn’t deserve this treatment. The depth that he would go to make this train wreck of a relationship work is astonishing (I’m happy they aren’t married, that would make my blood pressure skyrocket).

I think Coco is doing this because the only way to make Igarashi look bad is by overall character assassination. That way it will open the doorway to Ookuma route.

This isn’t a boys will be boys situation. As he’s not invalidating his actions due to preconceived notions. You say boys will be boys to excuse the noisy or rough way a boy or man is behaving, by saying that it is normal for boys or men to be like this. We as the audience are fully aware of the whole situation. So with that in mind Chiyo’s actions to some outweigh this one instance on Igurashi’s part. It’s implied that offscreen he had an affair. We know that right now this situation is a product of his actions. He purposely didn’t try to cheat within the relationship, but due to his ‘supposed friends’ here we are.


Yes he’s in the wrong to barge into her apartment. Yes when it comes to trust he isn’t entitled to it . And no as you stated she isn’t a bitch because she wants to separate herself from him. We know he didn’t tell the whole situation (the buildup to the cheating). It could have changed the perspective of the alleged cheating.

Right now he’s desperate. He desperately is trying to salvage whatever shattered pieces remain of their relationship. On both sides men and women have done similar actions, especially when the other party decides to terminate the relationship. So he’s in the wrong for forcing his way into the apartment. But I don’t view this as being misogynistic. Because right now I doubt she will listen or accept him back into her life. But it’s very human for Igurashi to act like this.

I didn't say it excused his behaviour, I just think it fits with how he's been characterised. ie: he's a well meaning idiot and he doesn't even realise he's doing the wrong thing here.

I think the "boys will be boys" fits as he either was never taught proper boundaries here, or didn't absorb the information. He thinks he's entitled to have Chiyo hear him out, he's not.

It’s implied that they had sex. But we as the readers just don’t know yet. Personally I don’t think he did. But I assume he’s horrified and is completely dumbfounded at waking up to this whole situation.

He's a martyr for all good MCs that get treated like scum by their authors.

Author has completely destroyed Igarashi's character, making him look like an entitled stalker who thinks he deserves forgiveness for any mistake. If he thinks he cheated, why admit it? If he think he was raped, why not say so? He thinks Chiyo is bound to forgive whatever he does because they're childhood friends.

As for the stalking and forcing himself into her house...he's now bordering on criminal behaviour. I hope author makes Chiyo let this by and forgive him soon, otherwise Igarashi is doomed.
