I bet the older artist would've made it so the MC did fast thrust attacks against the weak spots of the armour. In this case the swords slice through PLATE armour like it's butter. I get it, it's fantasy, and uses JRPG elements, but if someone can make a super strong fantasy sword, then someone else can also make super strong fantasy armour of equal value, which I'd like to think that governmentially deployed soldiers would carry around, especially if they're already given plate armour.
