i dont mean to sound mean but do you realize how big of an age difference that is? shes a child! its weird to even think about being with somebody two years younger so 7 (seven)? thats just way out of line. doesn't matter that she's tiny, she's still a child. for gods sake she got excited celebrating her first birthday celebration! this whole thing is just straight up gross and i cant believe there are actual people caping for this and shipping the two of them, or at the very least trying to justify it. factoring in their ages, by the time estelle reaches her late teens, hed be in his mid to late twenties.
and personally, if i was her father and i found out some grown man is tryna make moves on her that young in her late teens id prolly beat the guy up myself. im dropping this cause this is just so trigerring and i just... i just wanted a wholesome family story like it was advertised as and instead i get weird pedophilia bait that starts when shes young and just bypasses that line by having her get engaged in her late teens to a grown man because that somehow makes it all better

They met when she was eleven and he was eighteen. That's a hell of a disparity, and their power dynamic is all kinds of skewed. She's relying on him as a guardian, like a pseudo elder brother.
By metric of the half-plus-seven rule, the soonest they'd be able to have a relationship without the age difference alone making it super creepy would be when she's twenty one and he's twenty eight — a full decade after their initial meeting. And yes, the standards of the time are different, but that doesn't make it less disgusting.
Admittedly I can't think of any historical code of chivalry that specifically prohibited creeping on your bosses eleven year old traumatized daughter, but only because, I suspect, nobody thought they'd have to actually write that one down. Jesus Christ.

I agree with others sentiment of them being 7 years apart is too big. I know some people will argue about the time period or that it wouldn't be that weird a decade or so later.
Falling in love with a little girl is different from falling in love with a grown woman. What I mean by this is that I wouldn't mind a 21 year old to be in a relationship with a 28 year old. I just can't stomach a little girl having romantic stuff with someone far older than her.

I do understand that now she's just a child and it's a no no for her to date but there's nothing pointing towards her feeling romantic love for anyone right now. So it's not gonna happen that soon. Also no one is saying Emiel likes her that way now. And feelings can change but for now he just wants to protect her he's not thinking about any love stuff.
On another note if you see a married couple the woman is 30 and the man is 37 you also think it's weird? I mean 7 years is a bit but if they get engaged when she's 18 and he's 25 thats not that big of a deal. And in real life there's plenty couples like that.

The 60 first chapters are more like a big prelude to develop all characters and start slowly.
If a 17-18 y old with a 25 y old is shocking for you, i suggest you should go out a bit more.
Ah, and remember we are not in a modern world here, people died earlier than us, for a lot of reasons.
And as i said last chapter, you must be BLIND to not expect this ship with this cover (the one in the beginning of this chapter) or the Novel covers i posted before.
