It seems it was there since the beginning, it's just that we didn't get the part of the story , it being here now suggest't the story has it more instead of less. Moreover it seems parents thought he was a girl from the beginning and it seems the guy, for obvious reasons isn't to eager to change this, so I wouldn't count on it decreasing any time soon.

Well I would never guess the "gamer girl" in the title is actually the guy after reading through the first couple of chapters.

btw one instance of the guy opening a topic that was to early for them and their relationship soured a little, so we needed two chapters of them reconciling, after getting forced to cross dress nothing of the sorts and he even does it again: I think he is more into it then it seemed.

From the Pixiv preview from Chapter 1, I think the whole story goes like this:
1. Boy hangs out with Girl, Girl found out he was actually a boy.
2. Girl previously had 0 friends, and she told Dad she made her first offline friend ever.
3. Dad was overjoyed and wanted to meet this 'friend', threatening to beat him up if he happened to be a dude.
4. So Girl begged Boy to crossdress.
5. He accepted, so they became closer as friends.
6. Boy is also well-versed in make up, so it might be that he also wanted to crossdress sometime.
