The sequel should not focus on the primary characters. It should instead focus on another set of characters from another prefecture. There's no point of continuing since the main antagonists are dead.

IIRC Jason never went after the original camp counselors. He is more of a living curse. Naoko while cutting a few innocent lives short did kill her bullies. Michael Myers is hyperfocused on Laurie and her family (disregarding 3 and H20). I'd say she is similar to Ghostface since Kazuya picked up the mantle when she died. Even then Scream is still focused on Sidney.
