There's no point in showing her rising from her grave if it's not her. It's a slasher. The killer never permanently dies and always comes back for the sequel.

I guess the mediocre route was more appealing then. The antagonists are dead, there really is no plot here, just an extra that can answer the questions the plot left. Kazuya is carrying Naoko's corpse and will take revenge on the ward staff that did her wrong during her time there, bet. It would've been better off with someone else picking up the mantle.

At least Halloween's continuity stays that way for 4 films with Laurie dying in the 4th film and Michael targeting her niece for the rest of the 4th and the 5th. Here, Michael would've have killed Laurie and successfully murdered by his psychiatrist in the end.
