the intention and implication was supposed to be that this isn't someone strolling up to a lemonade stand run by someone who looks like they're five, you're at one run by a group of people who are at least obvious teenagers.

I have no idea where small children who sell lemonade are capable of learning to drive but in my country you have to be roughly 15 and a half and have a legal adult with a full license there with you. that's 'learning to shave, getting a real job (not a lemonade stand but working for a wage), getting into a romantic relationship, having actual responsibility' age. that's different from a tiny, gap-toothed child that probably did not exist half a decade ago, let alone might not be old enough to go to school.

@mage_goo when your only defense left of a bad release is that "the people working on it are children and that you should be nice to them" that means you've lost the argument. first you compare them to prepubescent children too young to go to school, who are the ones who normally sell lemonade at stands, then you compare them to teens, who are often judged by society mentally fit enough and capable of learning to manage a 1-ton wheeled machine that moves incredibly fast carrying the operator and sometimes other people inside of it, and now you're bringing up college students, who for the most part are of legal voting age and sometimes drinking age and are often legally adults.

if you're going to translate something for 'free' or professionally, you take your work, your job, your craft seriously and don't intentionally mistranslate things because it's 'fun' to do so. rapeman got a lot of shit but he kept his shit strictly to credit pages and out of the actual translations, here a translator changed a phrase with history and political connotations to a line from a disco song, only revealing that it's mistranslated in the comments here, and started picking fights in the comments after people started showing up and questioning this, and you're telling me it's okay because he might secretly be a child handing me a slice of 'princess toast' that's bread, ham, and cake frosting out of the pureness of their lil' heart.

is that not what you're doing in this post? tbqh i'm having trouble parsing your posts in comparison to others here. anyway, you should be nice to children, (for the sake of this argument, and what I have pictured in my head as what runs a lemonade stand, as is what is usually portrayed as such in popular media here, this child does not exceed 8 years of age) because while they don't have actual responsibilities, proper reasoning skills, or useful knowledge, they're growing and learning. a teenager on the other hand, which is a minor but not a child, has been shown by several societies that they can handle simple jobs for a wage such as stocking shelves at a store, operate motor vehicles if they can pass required tests (you can start learning to drive when you're fifteen and a half here, that's nearly every isekai protagonist before they get hit by a truck), and often do not believe in santa claus or the boogeyman or whatever your favorite fictional thing to tell children to believe in is. because a teenager has that age, knowledge and agency a child does not.

@mage_goo teenagers have the capability to understand and comprehend things that children don't. they may be still be in education, but they are getting an education and have more common sense and experience dealing with society than children do. it isn't (or wasn't with the economy being like it is now) not uncommon for a teen's boss to yell when they fuck up something, especially if it's something big. local high school sports teams still have coaches yell at players where i live when they mess up a drill/routine/whatever. teens have agency and knowledge that children (in this argument) do not have, and thus while aren't expected to be full-on adults, they are expected to know things and if they volunteer or apply for a position and get training they are held to a standard that they need to meet.

As I said before that I didn't expect this joke to get past other translator, proofreader, typesetter, etc... Nobody said anything and before I knew it it was already online

Maybe after 5 more pages of readers telling you they're not here to read your shitty discord fanfic - you'll realize you're in the wrong.

As for applying as translator - certainly reading someone else's translated and typesetted manga is more comfortable than translating it for yourself, it takes out of experience after all, but this isn't impossible.
Especially when the alternative is not knowing when and where circlejerking TL would vomit their discord memes onto the manga, Instead of posting their shitty edits at the end of release like any normal, sane TL group would do.
But I guess 6 bloody credits pages per chapter and satisfying your hubris are much more important than staying true to the original.
