For "Minute !", you can also say "Hold on!"

"La violence n'est pas bonne !" is not gramatically wrong but weirdly used. I don't think we ever say like that for denouncing violence.
I think something like "La violence, c'est pas bien !" for the literal meaning or like "Ne sois pas violent !" (don't be violent/forceful!) is a correct way.

I think it's probably because the author learned basic French, which is usually using polite sentences.
Like when I tried learning Japanese for 1 year, they insisted in using the "desu" at the end for being polite.

I legit thought his friend was a man until he used "she" instead of "he", then said "ex-girlfriend", and finally saw the after-chapter illustration that explicitly stated the character's actual sex. Damn, she gives Haruka Ten'oh and Haruhi Fujioka a run for their money!
