She's realistically reacting to the shock and stress - complete with flashbacks and memories - it's amazing.

And I really adored that artistic touch there where he imagined Cabel's hand over her face.

Fuck, this chapter cements my appreciation for the author. I really do like how he managed to portray the reality of combat and how terrifying it really could be. Calm 1 minute and chaotic the next.

Cabel mY be cold, but I believe it is because of all he's been through with war and the rumors that follow him around. It is interesting to see a character drop in a world with war not being a-OK with everything that is going on. Rather it is realistic.
