A False Confession - Ch. 19

I've said it couple chapters ago, but he said some sus stuff and had some sus expressions before. Like he's all about business and efficiency. Like he had ulterior motives.
IDK if it's true, or I'm just too untrusting, but I was shocked af when she said what I was thinking. Bruh, this girl is good. She even notice that Duke was trying to be kind at times even though she's still kinda scared of him. She doesn't let any of her feelings, love or fear, cloud her critical thinking.
I've been giving the Prince the side-eye for a while.. I don't want Prince to turn out to be calculative and not genuine, but I'm thinking that's the case. But we'll see for sure later on

The pacing of this is dreadful. Feels like we've been on an endless march for the last 10 chapters, and it's mostly just Renee wanting to go home and blondie being sketch af.

What's the point of giving Renee some cheat power? She's really just a side character with no real redeeming qualities as a lead character. Lili is at least heroic and a go-getter. You could remove Renee from the story and it wouldn't matter much.

So this is why he's all nice and creepy at times. He's being nice so she'll continue healing everyone.

I like that Renee is being honest about her feelings but for the #1 healer in her church, she needs to experience war a bit more. It's fine to be scared of war now, but that doesn't mean you should go back to the temple, continue to live a comfortable life, and deny that it's happening. You need to experience it more and get used to war so you can be more helpful. I feel like she's just trying to avoid all her problems. Honestly, I'd rather have Lili as the heroine because she's calm, collected, knows how to stand up for herself, and has clear ambitions.

That said, I love that our heroine is smart and intuitive 😍. Serious respect for calling out the 2nd ML like that.

I don't think it's bad of him to be sure she is in good shape, he is taking care of the healers and that's a good thing.

@nivinator

wow I really have to disagree with you on that. mind you that the story established early on that a) their temple is a really small and insignificant temple and b) their empire doesn't have many conflicts and if they do, it's never a big deal & healers from the main branch would be called instead.

I don't think it's fair to say that she has no other choice in her life but to become a healer on the battlefield, especially since war is tough. it's a bit harsh to say so so early in the story when Renee is still coming to terms with the realities of war.

+ Renee has ambitions too- it's just that her ambitions are different from Lili's. Like they literally talked about this. There's nothing wrong with wanting a quiet and comfortable life. Bear in mind that our MC here regrets how over-ambitious she was in her previous life.

@nivinator
Not everyone has the obligation to get used to war. That is her choice and I understand and respect it. I would make that same choice depending on my powers too, however, her powers don't help much with self defense. She almost died, she probably could be lethally injured or even killed if the first surprise attack hit her instead of the knight that died.

I love how flawed renee is...that she’s scared, she’s tired, she’s lonely. I love how human her character is but she’s still so lovable and not annoying. Such a refreshing FL.

Ahhh thank god she is not running blindly into each person who is nice to her! This string of reason is really refreshing! I love her! Renee, I love you! <3

Love how human the author made her. She’s not one of those manufactured uber altruistic saintess types. She has god tier holy powers but knows the limitations of her abilities and reacts to war like any other human would - with fear, exhaustion and disgust, but we can see she doesn’t actually outwardly complain much at all and really tries her best. She feels guilty for feeling self-preservation (even though it’s completely normal), and her character is so nuanced like she still sees past the actions of Paladin O’Godly and doesn’t just fall straight for him tho he’s hot n being so nice to her ughhh I lov this girl who’s doing her best

I think this is the moment that I feel these two aren’t really interested in each other that much. The MC’s opinion of him is just that he’s handsome, and the knight’s opinion of her is just that she’s useful. I think the author does a good job maintaining their distance in a way

Fuck, this author and artist combo is really good. These past couple chapters have been top notch the author is good at conveying emotion and thoughts as well as having a good grasp of how people would probably react in this situation if it's their first. The artist meanwhile can really convey and draw the emotions and distraught the characters are feeling. The subtle details are so good. I'm in love

This is the chapter that got me interested in the story. This whole time I thought Renee was infatuated to a fault about Blondie, but she has clear head on her shoulders and is comfortable enough to call out how he is being manipulative. Even better, given that she is at war, she's fine with her feelings being toyed a bit because at least he's a good looking distraction. Very human.

I cant tell if this guy genuinely cares for her or not.... I keep thinking to myself that if she really DID like this prince she wouldn't have hesitated to clear things up with MR .CUSTOMER. Does she really think that he'd kill over something as trivial as expressing her feelings, drunk and by mistake? I don't buy it...
