A Girl Who Can't Speak Thinks "She Is Too Kind." - Vol. 1 Ch. 3 - Cafeteria

I dunno if the translation is off or if its the faces or what, but the serialization version doesn't seem to capture the same feel as the webcomic version.
Thats a bummer.

@Picks - i'm with you! like the visual pacing (and dialogue) has been altered ever so slightly, but it throws the whole thing into a tonal disarray - feels a lot less 'complete' than the webcomic version :(

I don't quite get the joke with the tempura soba and 'sprung up', can someone please explain?

@justforthelulz I think it means she's pretending that the extra piece of tempura was at the bottom of the bowl and floated to the top. And psychic girl finds her adorable. Not much to get in terms of joke.

Other way to solve that problem; tell the cafeteria worker she's fucking mute and to hold her fucking horses.

Oh they added the bit about the staff

Nope, pretty much exactly the same.

"I'll be getting a bowl, and I'll force you to get one too while I'm at it" What kind of dialogue is that?

Cute cover. I feel bad for her getting yelled at, just for trying to write down what she wanted. Just give her a second to finish!

This is probably the least logical approach I've ever seen. Usually you'd just tell the canteen worker that she's mute instead of going to such a roundabout way to get Mashiro's meal lmao. This is absolutely horseshit. Not only that but it's gonna repeat again the next time if you don't tell them about her condition.

That cafeteria worker is lucky, she got off easy.

Also, school cafeterias in Japan must be real nice, they actually get options!

But the point is, the school authorities do not notify the staff about the mute girl. Even her classmates feel indifferent and ignore her. Even if the blonde girl flat out telling the mute girl's condition to the cafeteria worker, they will find it hard to believe, and seriously, the mute girl looks so damn "normal".

@Notesha I agree somewhat. I can see the possibility of the administration not notifying everyone (huge hassle, and school-cafeterias are not always directly affiliated to the schools) and rely on her doing whatever she regularly does to communicate outside school, but it still seems a bit odd as them doing their job and getting the word out is the more likely option.

I don't agree that they wouldn't believe her tho, aside from the fact that few ppl would be carrying a slate everywhere, there is also the fact that fewer still would pretend to be mute.

That they shouted at her to stop drawing is pretty stupid imo. That is the most unbelievable part. There was no queue (a bit weird) so there was no reason to get upset, and even if there were, it should be pretty obvious she weren't drawing but writing (which would normally make people jump to the assumption that she has a sore throat and can't talk, or trying to figure out what to eat by listing the options she want and apply process of elimination, so they would be patient).
And if she were drawing (or writing a story) in the middle of the queue, there was probably a decent reason to do so. And if not, probably still more efficient to let her do what she is doing real quickly, instead of interrupting and risking a time-consuming confrontation.
