A Returner's Magic Should Be Special - Vol. 3 Ch. 131

I completely agree with previous statements. It really went down in quality, Desir acts out of his character, the alchemist plot is boring and even the art was quite unreadable during counter attack with that fusion spell.

Its unfortunate that this manga has the current artist working on it. The changes to the story has been terribly done, and the cuts made has made the plot flow way worse than the novel. Good translation work flamescan, but its unfortunate the bumbling artist has butchered the adaptation

It was a low level dragons magic. THe one we saw in the last volume needed the combined magic power of Desir, Zod and the priestess, plus a lengthy incantation, and I believe that the large amount of magic power fried his eye.

@thedestroyership That is a fusion spell, that uses half of dragon magic and regular magic and because of that it is not the full power as full dragon magic. So, it doesn't require sacrifices but requires a lot of calculations that only Desir can only use or else it would require sacrifices.

Desir's kind of acting out of character... He used to calculate everything perfectly and would never underestimate an opponent.

Others say the novel said it better. Anyone care to tell the details?

I think what is a bit sad, is that the main combat quality for desir is not important anymore.
In the beginning desir was only good for calculations and canceling spells, now he is basically fighting like the avatar with his elements.
When the homunculus gathered the mana for his attack shouldn't desir have been able to cancle it out? Or wasn't that a spell?

@Mizuho9000 yooo that's sounds like a bullshit way of making fights easier, thx for the explaination though. Sorely disappointed by the fact that Desir was just spamming spells to fight his opponent.

@Jinkyns this is my main gripe with this series now, it was slowly changing like this up until this arc, now it went balls to the wall with the I am THE MAGICIAN with him. Bit disappointing tbh.

With every chapter Desir gets cooler and Romantica more annoying lmao
Tysm for the update

Hmm... darn, this manga is becoming worse with each new chapter... it's not delivering any major plot development but more like just letting you peek at what's going to happen next and then dropping cliffhangers. Characters aren't consistent anymore and it's just throwing things at the story that might somehow make it cool with no substance at all... it feels like it's becoming a hassle to read it than a pleasure =-=

The fight was a little rushed, romantica would be more useful, she was supposed to be the one casting water wall on the frozen spell on the previous chapter and it would be really key on discovering the homunculus weakness, and it's not just mana, it's more like he dont do well with consecutive deaths and mana used, it wave to be killed at least 2 times and on the last desir attack it dont got tired but mutilated, I think it had something to do with the PG status of the comic, the novel is way more brutal

@dskilly this arc (on this shadow world) feels like a grinding time on rpg, the only focus is to level up (and get new good equipment), thats why it feel lackluster. I myself still enjoy the story (at last the main plot is still there) and just wait patiently for the plot to advance (I hope when it happen it give enough impact though).

Well in this manhwa, I always enjoyed the talking than the fighting though. Still this is really one weakness of many fighting manhwas (except Go Su). Rarely the author care to give in depth of their fighting (abilities) formulae, like devil fruit advantage in One Piece for example or different spell effects on Harry Potter. Thats why what I can see is just flashy things thrown each others.

@Nunally That's true, the underlying story is definitely still good and something I look forward to, hopefully these "plots" are over soon and we get back on track or at least that this ends with something that's worthwhile.
