I feel so sorry for Jeremy, being mocked despite telling the truth. He probably felt confident that as long as he tells exactly what happened there might be some salvation especially for Shuli. Shame that in court, where truth must prevail, they will throw it back in your face. Unfortunately this is the reality that’s more common than we realise especially with very powerful people pulling strings in their favour (here, the priest and the church).

@nivinator it is a personal opinion for me since i dont like this kind of story but

i've read that the main characters who will have an affection for shuli will be jeremy(her son), the other swordsman guy(i forgot his name lol), the prince, and the priest. the prince and the priest already did something that will hurt her and her family, having jeremy face court. the spoiler ive read was that the prince and the priest will use unnecessary problems/complications to get shuli and i fear that it will affect the kids. what makes me think that i will probably drop this is that i don't want the kids to be hurt because of some love battle to win shuli. from the current arc the prince is planning to do something so that shuli will owe him one, and that will turn to his favor. the priest already feels that he uses underhanded methods. AGAIN this is just a personal opinion, i just really dont want see the kids get hurt

@Nikoko consider the time period this is supposed to be : pre-renaissance presumably and thus before laws and courts were very much. There was a time where a Lord could accuse someone with lower standing of anything and get away with it. The stable legal system we know now is the result of years and years of iteration and, most importantly, the consideration that all people are equal, and thus should have equal rights. This time period would be nowhere near that point and thus the fact there is a court system at all is commendable. Realistically if this were 14-1500s Europe, then chances are if the royalty meted out a punishment it would just be carried out, no court, no recourse.
