@Rheeve the only people shown their to be exposing him are not the friends we are shown, and are his coworkers. The only time his friends are their is when they say it’s weird to marry a ghost. Once again, the friends we are shown are not people that he should distrust as much as he does.

This together with the MC saying that he has 'never felt needed before' goes to show that his "friends" never were around much. So they never really were more that acquaintances at most. They really had no business trying to ruin what little happiness he finally had acquired.
