The problem with "Jojo references" is they are just like Simpson references. In that both series have been around since the 1980's and covered a lot of things. Even when the author doesn't intend to make a reference, there are coincidental/accidental reference just by the sheer volume of the body of work. Then there is the telephone game of pop culture where a meme goes around and distorts until the origin is completely forgotten. It's not a deliberate reference cause their just using it in the pop cultural generalized way. What I'm getting at is, that people are big fans of a thing and love seeing fandom of the thing they like in others things, but sometimes your just seeing what you want to see.

Or not. Maybe it really is a Jojo reference.
