@Psychronia Not bad? She's very childish and selfish and naive. Nobody likes political marriages, but it's still a must to form alliances and benefits. And declining one could lead to war because it's humiliating to the other side and obviously an act of not taking the hand offered to them. Usually, one can't refuse a political marriage of such scale.

Well, she did say she'll kill herself though, so if she did maybe her family wouldn't have faced the consequences of turning down a duke's marriage proposal with the excuse of her having died. But that's still not certain either seeing the reputation of the would be male lead.

Yeah. Like I said, not a bad person. She's short-sighted and makes dangerous decisions, but being childish and selfish and naive doesn't make you a bad person. Just like how being focused on etiquette and politics doesn't make Athanasia a bad person.

Plenty of heroes and heroines in stories make the same sort of decision the little sis does-such as choosing to save their lover before the world. The difference is that this story frames her decision as the immature thinking it is.

@dsigh Because she is from a duke family it is therefore basically just below the power level royal family and that nobility is completely fake, they can smile at you while calling you an "evil lady" behind your back just for power and just to respect the hierarchy of nobility

The way the prologue goes it makes it seem Anathasia wasn't even loved by her parents despite them caring for her very much, realizing and appreciating all the hard work and effort she puts in to managing their territory. Chapter Anathasia's heading North the mother is lamenting on how to manage the paperwork and take care of the territory without her. While the muscle brained and narrow minded Lillian refuses to understand or learn anything contrary to her views. That and too short sighted on what needs to be done and not having the faintest idea about the long view. For example, the gems Anathasia displayed brought in high paying customers generating work for the family jewelers that'll last at least a few months if not longer while raising additional money for the charity event. Yet Lillian only cared about the delay. Wonder how long territory going to last with Lillian making a mess of things without Anathasia to smooth things over, plan, and manage things.
