Well sorry if she's using the money to buy clothes for herself! Do they seriously expect her to wear something like the commoners when she has things like keeping her family noble dignity in line? And i think her little sister is not a saint at all, just bcs she has some sort of light power or something. She didn't say anything back when peole badmouthing her sister right in front of her face ,seriously, i think the little sister is just a little brat with a luck for having her older sister and nice angelic face (?) anyway, thank you for the update! I really want to see the development between the MC, ML, and the people surround them

@karolyn I disagree. The little sister is selfish and cowardly. She judged Lord Winterne by the appearance of his castle and rumors. She used threats of suicide to get her way. Her lack of responsibility became her sister's responsibility. Worst of all, she is too cowardly to defend her own sister from slander when her sister is taking responsibility for her. I'd go so far as to call her an unwitting traitor.

Well...I think the little sister kinda relatable.
Yes, she's selfish/bratty but I don't think she's wrong to want to choose who she wants to marry. It's a blind marriage where she doesn't know anything about him other than the rumours. She's envisioning her future in a barren wasteland rather than winter wonderland (living in Canada, this is an misconception I get alot). She seems to genuinely care for her sister, yet she's a bit too cowardly and doesn't want to lose her friends. Compare to Athanasia, she has a lot more to lose in this marriage.
Athanasia on the other hand is misunderstood and rumours of her basically spread like rumours of the Northern Monster. To her a start over is good...at least it can't really be any worst than the treatment she has here.

I agree with @Magicat, the little sister gives me an air of someone with a kind of dilluted sense of justice, but she can't even stand up for her sister when she clearly knows MC is getting married cause she doesn't want to. FFS she just got confirmed that MC had her engagement annulled with Lord Camellia so that rumor of him being a lover is just BS but says nothing.
Very good to complain about her situation and even threaten suicide but can't even refute false rumors about the sister that is taking her place.
On another note, seeing those people who I'm guessing are also nobles, talking about expenditures and commoners makes me think that country might be on the verge of a civil war or revolution, cause I don't think nobles would normally think like that about commoners. Might be reading too much into it

Okay, so Lilian... she's a brat. As @Magicat said, she's selfish and cowardly. As a modern woman, I can relate to her wish that she wants to marry for love. And she truly seems worried for Athanasia - but she doesn't even think, for one millisecond that the situation her sister (Athanasia) is put in, is directly her own (Liliana's) fault.
And then she goes and only says to her friends (?) to quiet down, but doesn't actually defend Athanasia. No wonder such nasty rumours go around, when even her family doesn't do anything to defend her honour.
Ah, that comment about dresses cracked me up! I mean, aren't you doing the same thing, purple lady? I bet commoners wouldn't wear clothes like yours. And did they forget Athanasia is a duke's daughter? OFC that's a different league all together.
Grand duke Winter... Wintersomething looks OK at first glance. He seems like a person who decides on his own, rather than blindly listening to rumours. Give him some cookies.
Anyway, I can't wait to see how the two interacts! I hope they can find some mutual grounds and understanding - and hopefully, more later on

From what little we have seen so far, the only reason for the "evil lady" to be in the position she's in, is because she takes responsibility for her sisters actions. (Both the marriage annulment and secondary offer are caused by her. Wouldn't be surprised to see that her sister and Doucheduke end up together either.)

The sister is a good person, just dumb. She doesnt understand the responsibilities as a noble besides "be a good person", and tried to stand up for her sister although unsuccessful. It doesnt mean that she is an asshole, just incompetent.
She would have been much better off if she was a commoner rather than a highranking noble.

The sister isn't an awful person, but she's neglecting her responsibilities and turning a blind eye to Athanasia's misfortunes. It's not hard to see, or it shouldn't be if you've lived with a person for all of their life, what they do because they want to and what they do because they should.
It doesn't matter what her sister has to lose, if you're going to say something like 'true love' and play the role of the good girl, while not standing up to your own sister, then are you really 'good'? If you're going to play it right, do it until the end. In reality, this 'evil lady' is the hidden 'good girl' isn't she? Considering that she's taking responsibility for her sister's mistakes without complaint, doing so like she's used to it. Being 'used to' being an outcast, 'used to' being a scapegoat and misunderstood, isn't that a bit sad?

Lilian is one hell of egoistic prick, she's even hypocrite to herself before others; She is well aware of her sister's situation, but she turns a blind eye in order to not get a backlash, if she cared geniunly, even if she can't do an action, she could just confront others (at least her sister) with her feelings, which is not the case.
While the other sister is a "model" for a high Noble, she's still naive for not caring to maintain an image, what does she want? to play a tragic honest heroine, it's not a wise decision for a person of her status.
Well regardless, these archetypes aren't commonly used in this kind of manhuas, and i'm glad to take a breath of fresh air.
I enjoy the set up so far.

Lilian comes of as a proper dumb blonde. I wouldn't be surprised if Athanasia's "bullying" turns out to be her correcting her sister's improper behavior.

From what I can see so far, the little sister is still immature, but could hardly be called evil. She’s the type who has a lot of growing up to do, but her good intentions at least point to her potentially becoming a good person. I do agree with her decision not to marry someone she doesn’t even know as she has a right to make decisions about her own future. Still, she’s going to need to step it up a bit and start defending her sister better in the future. Otherwise, her good nature will remain overshadowed by her brattiness.

By all accounts, she could be a heroine in a different story as "the justice-loving noblewoman who wants to be one of the people".
