I guess in what portions you take heartwarmth and sadness out of the bittersweet here is dependent somewhat upon the reader.

I thought she seemed pretty at peace with stuff that had happened and that it was a sweet love story as told from the end, when everything's over as naturally happens with mortals. But I get the people who instead, have felt the major takeaway as that it's sad she didn't get to spend as much time as she'd have liked with him.
