I feel like the pacing of this story is a bit strange

They really know how to tug the ol' heart strings. So Ashley's mother left. I'm guessing the greenhouse was her mother's, if so that would explain why her father kept it closed. Then she was taken care of by servants, but they eventually all disappeared from her life too. Makes sense that she's trying to get along as hard as she can.

I love that they had a bonding moment!! Sisters for life also this may be far-fetched but what if Ashley's want for her mother to love her is the wish that bought about the protagonist?? Like that's what the fairy godmother decided to do instead??
