Thank you for using Queen Dowager instead of Queen Mother! It really does make things clearer, and most of the other stories in this genre use that term so it's more likely to be understood.

@organiczero I think that sort of makes sense. The way I understood it, is while the girls aren't considered lookers, they're pretty nice and decent girls. In the original story line it was their mother's influence and her own treatment of Cinderella that brought out their nastier side as they used Cinderella as an outlet for their frustrations. However, since the MC took over, she hasn't gone down that route and has included Cinderella as one of the girls. Therefore, while it's hard to tell how close the girls are, at the very least their doesn't seem to be any animosity, as the catalyst for that isn't there anymore. Moreover, I think it's likely the original Mildred would have perhaps been more critical of her own girls due to her aristocratic viewpoints and that fact that she herself was reeling from being a widow a second time with 3 daughters to raise. The MC though, is more separated from those feelings so that also helps her manage the girls in a way that doesn't make them arrogant or bitter.

I'm not really feeling the male lead. Unless he has ulterior motives (like her inheritance), it feels too forced that he takes such great interest in a woman he just met who has married twice and has 3 daughters, given the societal setting they are in. It's not like their first encounter was that spectacular or game-changing either.
