I think ML is in his early 30th. In chapter 6 Mildred asks him, if she should treat him like someone in his 20th, and he said, that he wouldn't mind, if it was possible. -> So he can't be in his 20th anymore. Since Mildred thinks he is younger, i guess he is in his early 30th or mid-30th, if he just looks young.

I think ML would be a great step dad for her daughters. Not only he takes care of MC but her daughters as well. It does look like they are almost the same age, probably older than 30 or so. And his protégé probably be someone who will be close with one of her daughter hehehehehe
