And Noah certainly has connections to marquis Lapier, it was implied several times so far. And considering how these things usually go in stories, the truth will most likely exceed their speculations.

Seeing Caidel's reactions in this chapter gave me a good feeling, as he is reacting to this pretty much in the best way a good character should. He is not so love-struck and depressed that he ignores his job and is rejecting others and his responsibilities (that is always an ugly thing to witness).
But he is also pretty much true to his feelings for Ellen, without trying to forget her or anything, even though he might be entitled to do that considering her response to his confession. Perfect guy material right here
