It's quite possible that she is forcefully absorbing souls into herself for that entity and she is immortal so that she can absorb them forever or as a side effect of it. I remember her saying to Noah that when someone that hated her dies then they appear in her dreams. @Nameee
All in all, she did have quite a heavy secret and she is pretty close to a which right now. So I get why she hid it all from Caidel.

@ForeverTheSky I don't think you are meant to feel any sympathy for the villagers. If sympathy was the target the author went for, then some individual faces would be shown with some not that bad people. The villagers were used as a plot device, nothing more.

Yeah the price might be immortality or the destruction of the town... Perhaps all the people who died, their lifespans have been transferred to her lengthen her own. Idk just a theory. Can't wait for the next chapter!! I'm so mad at everyone who did Eleanor wrong

Wait if she's absorbing souls. Like what other commenters have said then she isn't exactly immortal. She just has a stupidly long lifespan. However, if she is immortal then she can just wish for mortality again and use the prick Noah as a sacrifice. Not like anybody will miss him.
