pretty sure that meeting scene wasn't in the novel version... wonder if the comic artist just felt like the audience needed to be reminded that the two main characters know each other (read: are the same person lol)

This is horrible. Who even are these people in this party? Apparently they have a lot of faith in and knowledge about the main character but they were just introduced? Why does the mc have to meet himself if he has a telepathic link? Is the duke going to discreetly parade a 30,000 man strong army into a backroom of his personal mansion? This has to be the worst light novel adaptation I've ever seen. The pacing and dialogue make no sense on their own. And isn't this supposed to be a chinese series? What is with the frequent japanese honorifics and oppais?
