These Web-novel/novels adaptations (for the most part) are soooo half-assed. They miss a lot of context or are poorly articulated. It makes you think it's on purpose or that the source material is equally as bad, which often it is not the case.

If this world is anything like most manhua cultivation worlds, someone who shows up with an immunity means that any grossly powerful specialist in the field this person is immune to is effectively powerless against the person - even if they're otherwise a relative noob. So, since they can be killed by other people, they'll send assassins to wipe out this person who is totally immune to their powers, so they won't become the kind of threat that can suppress them just by existing in the future.

@Kayriel sending assassin's effect is most likely giving this dude more growth and then revenge is a self realising prophecy. Nearly 100 % in all Chinese story.
