Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Oji-san - Vol. 1 Ch. 4

Now if I've learned anything about this group of >9.0 rated manga light on action, it's that they always start strong and engaging before becoming unbearable either because of a) the protagonist's incorruptible goodness rubbing off on everyone and solving all the world's problems one by one, or b) the single-field specialist becomes an omnidisciplinary expert as the plot introduces new concepts.

Seems like this story is moving towards option a, but it's too early to tell. I certainly hope it remains interesting a little while longer.

So that where Abacus from Web-Comic come from. I though Abacus was mundane tool in that world, but it seems a new concept in that world.

I'm glad the mangaka seems to be adding a little backstory to the original villainess

It´s amazing how he reached the same imaginary slave cat girl image as the little maid..

..this last pannel OMG.

This was good, but I actually liked the twitter version of this segment better. Saburou comparing the maid to the family cat, worrying about her like a parent worrying about a child when she dropped a teacup, and the maid concluding that the cookies were in order to fatten her up for market.

Woaaaaahh they're adding more substance to the original villainess that's so good!! So she was actually nice when she was a child... That's bittersweet.

Wait, hold up, slow down.

They are building vast palaces.

And use them as schools.

And yet they don't have abaci???

What's next, crop rotation?

Cute maid tho.

@nichtmalda strange enough, olden european abachi were not like the modern ones. They were made by a panel with section for units, tens, hundreds, ecc. in those sections people put tokens. Here is a good example: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/13/Houghton_Typ_520.03.736_-_Margarita_philosophica.jpg/800px-Houghton_Typ_520.03.736_-_Margarita_philosophica.jpg

Hold on a sec, Grace loved ordinary craftsman and their humble spirit? Now I wonder if she was the old guy's reincarnation from the start, suppressed it from trauma in villainess training, and then post-accident Catarina Cleis'd her way into her original personality but with the original memories in addition? (as opposed to the twitter plot's direction where he's literally inside the game)

Alternately, maybe her existing original love for such humble workers is what called his spirit to her in order to heal her soul. Either twist would be awesome, honestly. Either way this story was desperately in need of some deeper character development instead of just riding on its striking premise and undeniable cute energy. This chapter delivered on that need. I'm super looking forward to where this is going.

(Also yeah, I miss the twitter version's revelation the old guy can't help but spoil his cat. I'm guessing they're saving that one for later, since this chapter implies Grace and Josette will be closer or interacting a lot more in future.)

the father instincts are strong and good in this one!!!

Also cute little backstory to the org girl looks like she was a cute little thing until society told her what she was and wasn't allowed to enjoy any more.

@cryum Oh I am aware of one or two that go down that path but the well....parasite (Our usual Mc) that took over their body destroys their soul....not makes them go to the afterlife but properly disperse it so they can’t Recarnaite for 10000 years..It was messed up tbh

The pov shifted to some atavistic monstrosity all of a sudden.
