This trope is fucking stupid. Who in their right minds tries to teach some random murderer who was literally just trying to kill them the error of their ways instead of just killing them or having them arrested? Nobody acts like this, and it's not even desireable that people do because what is going to happen next is that this degenerate is going to continue his murder spree, and eventually come for the MC. Because your common sense does not apply to their world: It is already established in the beginning that Cafus are not considered to have human rights, but rather pets. Would you go John Wick on the butcher shop because they are killing pigs and cows every day? Would you go into a person's home and kill them for mounting taxidermy deer heads (which in this case is what I'd expect to be the equivalent of the petrified Cafus) on the wall? Even in the modern world, animal rights activists don't go around shooting those "murderers", but rather limit their actions to protests, because otherwise, they'd be committing terrorism or murder themselves.
The very fact that the protagonist didn't get shot for trespassing and destruction of property is already a testament to the plot armor he have.
