17 chapters in and we're not really making any progress. The Duke is stuck in denial, Heilin is still clueless, the Emperor spends his days fcking with his subjects, and the nobles have nothing better to do than scream about executing children. Honestly, this novel is a hot mess with a lot of socially inept people.

funny how one can mistake a expose on the mc's past as making no progress
took 17 chapters but we can finaly see about half of the fl's backstory
and know why the emperor is begging to be killed he is a ultra greedy bastard
having a loyal retainer that wont flip even when you humiliate him repeatedly and still wanting to get kill him to get his stuff...
honestly having a vassal thats loyal like that is no different from having controll yourself

I feel that the "hut" is being unfairly judged here. It looks like a perfectly nice little cabin in the woods. It has a nice little clearing with a garden plot. I mean its not super luxurious on the inside, but it seemed decently furnished at least. I have to imagine its way better than your average peasant's home at least if you ignore the abuse and imprisonment. The cabin did nothing wrong!
