While I feel sorry that it happened due to the mother's personality, it seems completely realistic because of the implications and the context we've been given it was completely justified. I loved that Mashiro reacted in such a way because of how much she takes his presence and their familial relationship for granted only acting like a parent (and in the worst way possible) when she isn't obsessing over her hookups. Very clear that she also gaslights him.
