I wouldn't have really hated a yuri route here. But it doesn't feel like that's where this is going. MAL also only has one series in the magazine this series belongs to that got a yuri tag on it and it's... not entirely inaccurate I suppose? But that story is not focussed on that at all either, really. The lead character just happens to be a really pervy lesbian whenever she isn't busy murdering murderers for a living. More of a fan service thing than a romantic subplot. Anyway, I mention that because yuri and yaoi are both typically more of a niche thing, a magazine will generally be focussed on them if they're publishing it at all.
