Being a master of basic sword skills is very powerful. Think of it like a starting weapon in a game, it’s meant to be balanced, aka good overall. If you take that weapon’s stats and multiply them by a thousand you are unstoppable. In Star Wars, Kit Fisto mastered/perfected the basic lightsaber fighting style, Form 1, and was considered one of the greatest duelists ever in the Jedi order. He outmatched even General Grievous who had slain hundreds of Jedi. He even parried Palpatine’s attacks and survived (briefly) When basic abilities are mastered they don’t really deserve to be considered basic.
