Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou - Vol. 5 Ch. 31 - Clash

After a quick look through the comments it feels like more than 50% of them are spoilers without spoiler tags. Annoying.

@Anitvenomz
I believe an action scene without purpose is pointless, not even good for filler. We already saw the protagonist and co fight many battles and this one in particular was boring and took up a whole chapter.
Do remember its released at a monthly interval so for 30 days IRL you got virtually no plot development, no character growth, nothing.
The flashy fight, was just that, a generic fight, even if the dragon turns into some harem member later on it could have been over with in a few panels or pages at worst, not a whole chapter.

What did you take away from this chapter? Rawww firebreath, magic "dont take your eyes of the enemy"rawwwwrr firebreath, pew pew pew scales are too tough for small gun... more firebreath... #1 girl thinks she's strong but turn out dragon is "too strong" they get dramatically beat and MC pulls out the unignorable big gun.

It was stupid, didn't serve the plot AT ALL and this is something hard to swallow in a MONTHLY manga considering the previous 2-3 chapters leading up to this. It was suposed to be the payoff for all the exposition given in the previous couple chapters at least by the other party they came with.

@yldDavid I agree this shouldn't have taken a whole chapter but it supposed to show how tough the dragon is (how she's competent as new harem member) and how useless the summoned heroes were (seriouly did she seriouly think those knives would work on that thing?). It's a shame that the chapter ended at cliffhanger, but as one didn't read the novel let me tell you that this chapter isn't all that unsatisfying and useless as you said, it's just you looking forward to the dragon girl too much.

@Kurieito: Oh fuck no. I'm not doing that. In the end I might end up demotivating him and he cuts to a 6 months schedule with 5 page releases.

good thing i already read all of novel of this series untill END, and tbh the novel version have more indepth of the story rather than manga version, in novel you can feel hajime are more evil than in manga, romance/relationship betwean hajime, yue and shea are have more development in novel, the way hajime treating his teacher and all of his classmate are more clear to see and the way classmate and teacher seeing hajime and their realtionship development are way better than the manga version (example : in LN how Yuuka feeling trying so hard to say thank you to hajime, but in manga she look like normal and doesnt care at all).
im just wishing that manga version of arifureta have more indepth story telling and paying attention to every char development through the story rathen than just flashy fight

@levyoasu I've also read all the novel and frankly, Hajime becomes a pussy later. Just a edgy rebel without a cause that ends up saving the world.

He takes revenge on a few people (that are purposely shown as evil or insane) and for the most part, he just helps people out of the goodness of his heart, while pretending to be aloof. He didn't even kill the idiot Kouki which deserved it a thousand times.

@MavB_Ver
I guess to each their own. I don't read the novels either, the dragon turning into some loli was just a guess but I see others mentioning it too. Fairly common cliche. Glad some people liked it
