In WN/LN, Tio explained all the stuff before she transformed, and there were quite a few jokes as well.

Also, the reason Yue stopped Hajime from killing Tio was during the whole battle, Tio never directed her animosity towards Hajime (her target for the whole fight had only been that "Will" kid). That meant she wasn't Hajime enemy.

And the reason why Hajime targeted Tio's ass for the attack was because he had heard of a legend which told 'never to kick the ass of a sleeping dragon', as normally when Dragon's feel asleep it was hard for them to wake up, and if someone kicked their ass which was the only sensitive area on their body, then they would wake up and be extremely furious.
