Is a story that takes place in the same world but alot of time before the main story. So it is i Prequel... but its not needed to understand the main story.

@erynevan. He means since the novel's main story has finished we already know what happens to these guys in the end. Of course, the journey is just as important as the destination though so people shouldn't really pass over this just because of the novel's main story being done.
