Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyu-bu - Vol. 3 Ch. 49 - The Mystery of Hawaii

I will never understand the cliche "young and pretty teacher, who can't get a boyfriend" trope, it's literally everywhere, be it manga, anime or visual novels.

Considering Japan's got a declining birthrate problem, this might be less a cliché, and more the root cause of their problem.

Well it was the wrong present for one of them that's for sure, but definitely the right present for one of the three girls.

It's all the work hours, stress, and forced socializing. Combine that with the high cost of living and you get a population for whom dating/relationships or worse yet affording kids are often out-of-reach while they're still young than in other places.

The culture didn't have trouble back when everyone had their marriages preset by their families, but the freedom that came with the elimination of that system also came with requirements the way of life had increasing difficulty handling as the economy sped up the last couple of decades. It's a problem we see in Europe and NA as well, just to a lesser degree *for now*. People don't have time, are too tired, have already had their fill of talking-to and seeing people for the week somewhere around Tuesday, and may not really have the money to spend on others anyways.

So as far as that teacher is concerned, the available dating pool barring a particularly lucky encounter with all the stars aligning, is... other teachers at her school, if any are available.
Unless she goes the Yokoshima route and starts hunting for students.

I once read/watch that if you get some happiness, someone out there is less happy because of it. Imagine happiness in this world has fixed amount and is shared between people. Therefore, if some people get too much of it, the others will get less as the result.

Here we see that in order to make sensei happy again, they need to took away a bit of happiness from someone, which accidentally was Suzu. Can someone pat her head now?

Moral of the story: Don't be greedy and be grateful to God for whatever you have.

Seems like a missed opportunity here for the running gag where Daisuke needs to take a seat or such to hide his "interest" in Kotone.

Hawaii on a teacher's salary must be interesting, but the last time the Japanese went to Hawaii...Oof...

Why is it always the grass skirt that's associated with the islands... the dancers don't even use them that's the micronesian.
